Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday sought support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to carry out the river training programme through capital dredging. She sought the cooperation when Assistant Administrator of the USAID Nisha Desai Bishwal paid a courtesy call on her at her office. She also sought the cooperation of the USAID for implementing some socio-economic programmes of the government like school feeding, attainment of food security, children's health and maternal mortality. She termed the USAID as one of the main development partners of Bangladesh. Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Mohammad Nazrul Islam briefed the reporters. In response, Nisha highly appreciated the socio-economic programme of the government. Adviser to the Prime Minister on International Affairs Dr Gowher Rizvi, Ambassador-at-Large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister M A Karim and US Ambassador to Bangladesh James F Moriarty were present.
