DPA Power Generation International, an initiative of Bangladesh Army to generate power on rental basis, is set to supply 50megawatts (MW) of power to the national grid by this month. DPA is the lone local company that completed quick rental power project as per schedule. “We are ahead of schedule, we completed our test run and synchronising process. We could start our commercial operation at any moment as per call from Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB),” said Project Director of DPA Major General (Retd) Tazul Islam at a press briefing at Pagla Army Camp near Narayanganj district. Managing Director of Bangladesh Diesel Plant (BPD) Ltd, a commercial enterprise of Bangladesh Army, Col Mohammad Ali said, “We formed a joint venture company with our old partner Primordial Energy Ltd and Aggretech AG, Germany.” “Initially our plan was to set up a 100MW diesel-fired rental power project. But we got 50MW contract,” he said. “We can install another 50MW plant as we have land and other facilities here,” he added.
