4 construction cos fined for pollution
Department of Environment (DOE) yesterday fined four construction companies Tk 4.25 lakh during its special polluting environment during construction of buildings in the city yesterday, says a press release.
The companies are Kaushuli Ltd, Shyamoli Square, Concord (Anamika) and Abdul Bari Gong.
DOE launched the special drive led by its Director (Monitoring and Enforcement) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury at Begum Rokeya Sarani and Shyamoli in the city.
The construction companies and workers are making the lives of citizen dangerous spreading dust and blocking walkways by construction materials
The DOE officials directed the companies to take anti-pollution measures to ensure safe environment during the construction of buildings.
According to law, obtaining environment clearance certificate is mandatory for construction of a building above 10-storey.
