BBC Janala wins World Summit Award Mobile
BBC Janala won World Summit Award (WSA) Mobile 2010 in m-Learning and Education Category.
"As a country partner of World Summit Award, we are really proud that BBC Janala snatched the award for Bangladesh," said Dr Ananya Raihan, executive director of D. Net.
The WSA-mobile awards honour the most outstanding contents in eight categories -- m-Business, m-Government, m-Health, m-Learning and Education, m-Media, m-Entertainment, m-tourism and m-inclusion.
This year, over 420 projects from nearly 100 countries competed in the contest, says a press release.
The Grand Jury of 20 internationally recognised experts selected winners from the national finalists.
All winners will be invited to the WSA-mobile Gala, Conference and Exhibition in Abu Dhabi from December 5 to 8.
This global contest is being organised by the International Center for New Media (ICNM) in Salzburg.
The WSA-mobile awards is a global initiative within the framework of and in cooperation with the United Nations World Summit on Information Society (WSIS), in collaboration with Unesco, UNIDO and the United National Global Alliance for ICT and Development (UN GAID). The WSA-mobile is the only ICT event worldwide that reaches mobile communities in over 160 countries and is able to promote the best mobile content and innovative application out of this huge selection.
