Zia Orphanage Case
Hearing on charge framing adjourned till Jan 30
A Dhaka court yesterday adjourned till January 30 the hearing on charge framing against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, her elder son Tarique Rahman and four others in connection with Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
Judge Muzammel Hossain of the Special Judge Court-3 passed the order following a time petition filed on behalf of the accused.
In the petition, defence lawyers told the court that Khaleda could not appear before the court as she was ill while advocate Sanaullah Miah represented Tarique in his absence as he has been receiving treatment abroad.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Police Station in connection with embezzlement of over Tk 2.10 crore through formation of the Zia Orphanage Trust.
