PM on religious tolerance

Recently on a TV broadcast I heard Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina quoting from Sura Al-Kafirun “Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion” while stressing on the importance of maintaining religious tolerance for societal peace and friendship. I sincerely appreciate the PM's noble intention of establishing the true values of Islam and reducing the gap in the understanding of the philosophy of Islam within the Muslims and among the followers of other religions. Meanwhile I would like to say one thing that this particular verse is meant for a particular situation. The holy Quran vehemently insists on religious tolerance and preaches the idea of "no compulsion in religion." The following verses from the holy Quran (2:256) explains, “There is no compulsion in religion, for the right way is clearly from the wrong way. Whoever therefore rejects the forces of evil and believes in Allah, he has taken hold of a support most unfailing, which shall never give way, for Allah is All Hearing and Knowing.” The holy Prophet Muhammad (Upon Him Be Peace) has also asked Muslims not to unjustly hurt the feelings of a non-Muslim. The Hadith says: "Whoever hurts a non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state hurts me, and he who hurts me annoys God." (Bukhari). It implies that a Muslim strictly follow the teachings of Islam and to keep peace in the society by paying due respect to the dignity of the human beings.
