Take action against Nasimon-Karimon

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Home Ministry yesterday asked the ministry to be tough against the plying of shallow engine run vehicles known as Nasimon-Karimon. The recommendation came up at a meeting of the committee at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the city with its Chairman Maj Gen (retd) Abdus Salam in the chair. The members of the committee- Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun, State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku, Mirza Azam, Md Mujibul Haque, Md Habibar Rahman, Md Nurul Islam Sujan and Md Safiqul Islam attended the meeting. Abdus Salam said the accidents are taking place in the country almost everyday due to the movement of Nasimon-Karimon like vehicles. These vehicles have no licenses, fitness certificates, he said adding these are illegal as well. The chairman said the committee asked the ministry of home affairs to take measures against these illegal vehicles immediately. It also recommended the ministry to place the matter at the cabinet meeting on law and order. The committee discussed the existing law on Bangladesh Ansar and VDP and its proposed amendments.
