A fire broke out at the adjacent field of the runway at Cox's Bazar Airport yesterday afternoon. On information, members of Cox's Bazar Fire Service and Civil Defence unit rushed to the spot and douse the blaze after an effort of half an hour. Fire service and airport sources said the fire broke out suddenly from a stack of dried grass dumped in the field near pillar no-35 of the runway at about 1:30pm. Akter Hossain, manager of the airport, confirmed the incident and said the fire might have originated from a burning cigarette.
