SQ Chowdhury, Mahbub granted bail
A High Court bench yesterday granted anticipatory bail for six months to BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Khandker Mahbub Hossain in three separate cases filed against them.
SQ Chowdhury, lawmaker and member of BNP standing committee, is an accused in two cases filed in Chittagong on charge of vandalising cars, while Khandker Mahbub Hossain is an accused in a case filed in Rangpur on charge of creating panic by making press statements.
Following separate bail petitions filed by the accused, a bench of Justice Shamim Hasnain and Justice Md Rezaul Hasan also issued separate rules upon the government to explain why the petitioners should not be granted regular bail in the cases.
The petitioners appeared before the bench for bail in the cases.
Barrister Rafique-ul Huq appeared for the petitioners.
