Angry JCD men lock central office
A section of leaders and activists locked the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) central office in the city yesterday in protest against a move to form new committee of the Dhaka University hall units.
The JCD men, who deprived of getting posts in the new committee, locked the organisation's central office at Naya Paltan in the evening, which the central leaders denied.
Several hundred JCD men gathered at the central office in the afternoon when a rumour of declaring new committees of the DU hall units spread.
The rebel JCD leaders said they locked the central office as the DU unit Convener Abdul Motin and Joint Convener Obaidul Haque Nasir are trying to announce the hall unit committees with their men, depriving competent candidates.
They said JCD central president and general secretary are favouring Motin and Nasir. So Motin and Nasir are not taking opinion from other DU unit leaders to form new committees.
The angry JCD men alleged Motin and Nasir have held several secret meetings with their men at different restaurants in the city recently to declare new committees, ignoring the JCD people who were active during the last caretaker government.
The rebel leaders and activists locked the central office in presence of Office Secretary Billal Hossain Tarek and Assistant Office Secretary Rafiqul Islam, witnesses said.
JCD's Senior Vice President Shahidul Islam Babul said report of locking the central office is baseless.
