IEB elections tomorrow

The country's engineer community is going to elect the new office bearers to the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) tomorrow, according to IEB officials. IEB Assistant Executive Officer Abdullah Al Noman said the elections to executive committees of the IEB's headquarters (Dhaka), 16 centres, 33 sub-centres, and seven overseas chapters will be held across the country the same day. A total of 14,005 engineer voters out of over 30,000 members of IEB will vote for the 10-member executive committee of the headquarters for the term 2011-2012. Of the two election groups, one is led by Md Nurul Huda, chairman of Rajdhani Unnyan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) and the other by M Shamimuzzaman Bosunia, former professor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet). Huda and Bosunia are vying for the position of IEB president.
