50 shanties gutted, 10 hurt in N'ganj
At least ten people were injured and 50 shanties and five shops gutted in a devastating fire at Fazilpur in district's sadar upazila yesterday.
Police said around 2:30pm suddenly the fire originated from a shop and soon engulfed the adjacent slum houses and shops.
On information, three units of fire fighters from Mondalpara and Hajiganj rushed there and doused the flame after one hour of their effort.
The ten people were injured while trying to subdue the blaze.
The victims claimed the losses caused by the fire is estimated Tk 20 lakh.
Ahsanul Kabir, deputy director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defense, said we are investigating the reason behind the fire and its loss.
