Road crashes kill 6
At least Six people were killed and 35 others injured in separate road accidents in Gopalganj, Lalmonirhat, Thakurgaon and Gazipur on Wednesday and yesterday.
A correspondent from Gopalganj reports : At least one person was killed and 25 others were injured in a road accident at Mazra village under Kashiani upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Ayesha Begum, 25, daughter of late Dalil Uddin of Goalgram village of the same upazila.
Sources said the accident occurred at about 4:00pm when driver of a Khulna-bound passenger bus lost his control over the steering and fell into a roadside ditch, leaving Ayesha dead on the spot and injuring 25 others.
Our correspondent from Lalmonirhat adds : Two persons were killed and 10 others injured as a passenger bus fell into a roadside ditch on Lalmonirhat- Burimari highway near Kakina area of Kaliganj upazila on Wednesday night.
The victims are Nader Ali, 13, son of Monu Miah of Baro Kamlabari village of Aditmari upazila and Sirazul Islam, 33, son of late Rehanot Ali of Surki Mill Colony of the district.
Police seized the bus but the driver of the bus fled away from the spot.
Our correspondent from Thakurgaon says : A bicyclist was killed in a road accident at Guagaon bus stand area under Pirganj upazila on Wednesday evening.
The victim was identified as Bijoy Roy,40, of Mashalandapur village under the same upazila.
Police and local sources said the accident occurred at about 5:00pm when a sand laden tractor hit Bijoy Roy from behind while he was returning home from Pirganj bazar leaving him critically injured.
Locals rushed him to Pirganj Health Complex and then shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. He died on way to hospital in the evening.
A correspondent from Gazipur reports: Two motorcyclists were killed when a train ran over them at Dhirassram intersection under Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased are Mohammad Obaidur, 32, and Abdul Baten, 30.
