Sacrifices of FFs, Indian soldiers recalled

Bangladeshis in the Indian capital yesterday celebrated the Victory Day with traditional enthusiasm recalling the supreme sacrifices of millions of mukti joddhas and thousands of Indian soldiers in the battle for the birth of an independent nation. A function was organised on the premises of Bangladesh High Commission at Chanakyapuri in New Delhi yesterday morning where High Commissioner Tariq A Karim hoisted the national flag. Messages given by President Zillur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Foreign Minister Dipu Moni to mark the occasion were read out and prayers offered for the eternal peace of the departed soul of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the martyrs of the liberation war, and for peace, progress and development of the country and for the welfare of the people. In the evening, Bangladesh High Commission screened two documentaries ''Stop Genocide'' by Zahir Raihan and "War Crimes" by Shahriar Kabir at Maitree Hall of Chancery complex.
