Standard Chartered Bank has recently planted 100 saplings in partnership with Dhaka University in the university area, says a press release. The bank has partnered DU to plant some 500 saplings voluntarily as part of the World Environment Day celebrations this year. Alongside the tree plantation, StanChart in its offices uses equipment and performs activities that are environmentally friendly. Jim McCabe, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh, said, ''As part of our overall approach to building a sustainable business, the bank is committed to minimising its direct environmental impacts…'' ''Climate change is one of the most serious threats facing the planet and Bangladesh is even more vulnerable to this threat,'' said DU Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique. ''Our efforts are to do whatever we can to minimise this threat for Bangladesh and our future generations,'' he added.
