First verdict of Dhaka battalion Jan 15-20 likely
The verdict in a mutiny case filed against 111 jawans of Record Wing under BDR Headquarters at Pilkhana in the city is likely to be pronounced between January 15 and 20 next year.
After the end of the proceeding of a BDR Special Court-9, prosecutor of the case Lt Col Mizanur Rahman yesterday said it would be the first verdict against any battalion under Dhaka sector headquarters.
Ten witnesses gave their depositions before the special court, set up at new court premises at 13-rifle battalion, on Thursday while 44 accused cross-examined them.
Earlier, the prosecutor introduced 46 witnesses before the court. On the 9th day of the proceeding, he added two more witnesses who gave depositions against two of the 111 accused.
The Special Court-9, headed by BDR Sector Commander of Dhaka Col Habibul Karim, started the trial at about 9:15am, which continued till 1:30pm.
Habibul asked the accused to take preparation to produce arguments and self defence on the next proceeding day and adjourned the court till 10:00am of December 27.
