CUTA election today
Election of the Chittagong University Teachers' Association (CUTA) will be held today.
Yellow and white panels are contesting in the election. Pro-Awami League and left-leaning teachers are backing yellow panel and pro-BNP-Jamaat teachers are backing white panel.
Prof M Ruhul Amin of Public Administration department and Prof Dr M Sekander Chowdhury of Islamic History and Culture department are vying for the posts of president and general secretary from the yellow panel respectively.
White panel candidates for the two posts are Prof Dr M Atiqur Rahman of Botany department and Prof Dr Mohammad Al-Amin of Institute of forestry and Environmental Sciences.
A total of 645 voters will elect their leaders for the 11 posts of the association. The voting will be held at BBA faculty auditorium from 9:30am to 1:30pm, said Chief Election Commissioner Prof M Afsar Ali of Philosophy department.
