British Passport
No phone service from January 17
The British High Commission in Dhaka will not be taking phone calls about passport applications from January 17.
However, a company called Careline has been engaged by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to provide a phone service that enables staff in the British High Commission /Embassy to concentrate on processing passport applications more efficiently and effectively, a press release said.
Full information on how to apply for UK passports will be available on the British High Commission website. If someone does not have internet access, they can write or visit the High Commission for leaflets and application forms.

The cost of a call is currently about Tk 90 per minute and the cost of any international call. Calls from a mobile phone may be subject to additional charges depending on the service provider.
The service is available from midnight on Sunday/Monday to midnight on Friday/Saturday GMT. Additional information on how this system operates can be found on the British High Commission website at http:// ukinbangladesh.fco.gov.uk.
