Housemaid 'kills' herself
A teenaged female domestic help allegedly committed suicide by hanging at Motijheel in city yesterday noon.
Popy Akhter, 15, was working as a maid at the residence of businessman Abul Kashem Majumder in Gopibagh.
Motijheel police said Popy's body was hanging from a ceiling fan tied with a scarf. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
He said the girl, hailing from Feni, had been working in the household for nine months. Police quoting Majumder as saying his wife went outside to pay the electric and gas bills leaving Popy alone. Upon return, she found Popy's body hanging.
