13 killed, 147 hurt in road crashes
Thirteen people were killed and 147 others injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong, Natore, Gazipur, Kishoreganj, Madaripur, Sylhet, Naogaon, Khulna and Kushtia on Wednesday and yesterday.
Our correspondent from Ctg reports: An eleven-year-old boy, Md Tareq, son of Md Shahabuddin was killed in a road accident when a bus hit him while he was crossing the road at Roafabad in the port city on Wednesday.
In Natore, two people were killed and forty others injured in two separate road accidents at Baraigram and Bagatipara upazila on Wednesday.
In the first accident a picnic bus and a truck collided head-on at Agran Bazar of Baraigram upazila where the bus helper Zillur Rahman, 30, son of Paran Ali of Sadipur village of Rajshahi was killed and forty others were injured.
The second one took place when a bus hit a motorbike at Zigori of Bagatipara where the motorcyclist Abbas Ali, 40, son of Mazar Ali was killed and his wife injured.
In Kishoreganj, one person was killed and 20 others were injured in an accident when a bus crushed Ismail Hossain, 65, of Gaital and skidded off the road on Dhaka- Kishoreganj highway at Janatabazar yesterday.
UNB adds: In Gazipur, two women were killed by a speeding pick-up van on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Boardbazar yesterday.
The deceased are Marium, 25, wife of Badshah Mia of Degreer Char of Jamalpur and Begum, 40, wife of Saidul Islam of Phulbaria of Mymensingh.
In Khulna, two passengers of a Nasimon died in a road crash on Khulna-Bagerhat road at Kazdia in Sonadanga on Wednesday.
The deceased are Mozaffar Hossain, 45, of Bagmara village in Rupsa upazila and Masum, 25, of Khajadanga of same upazila.
In Sylhet, two people were killed and 10 others injured in separate accidents in Fenchuganj, Balaganj and Sylhet city on Wednesday and yesterday.
The deceased are Dulu Mian, 30, son of Daer Ullah of Konarchawk of South Surma upazila and Hafia Begum, 30, wife of Abdul Jalil of Joyasree village of Dharmapasha of Sunamganj.
In Madaripur, thirty people were injured in a road accident at Mostafapur while a man was killed and 40 other people were injured in a bus crash on Dhaka-Barisal highway at Sadhurbridge in Rajoir upazila on Wednesday.
Police said a passenger bus collided with a brick-loaded truck, injuring 30 passengers in front of Palli Bidyut office at Mostafapur.
In separate mishap a bus skidded off highway and fell into a roadside ditch, killing a bus passenger on the spot and injuring 40 others at Sadhur bridge yesterday.
In Naogaon, a class five student, Ishrat Jahan, daughter of Imran Ali of Fetgram was killed and six others were injured as a pick-up collided head-on with a Nasimon at Ferry Ghat in Manda upazila on Wednesday.
In Kushtia, a nine-year-girl, Alo, of Boaldaha village of Sadar upazila was killed and a van driver injured as a truck hit the van at GK Ghat on Wednesday.
