Brainstorming contest grand finale held

The grand finale of The Daily Star-Banglalion Brainstorming 2011 competition was held at a hotel in the port city Tuesday evening. Presidency International School and East Delta University became the champions among 10 schools and 10 universities respectively. Bangladesh Mahila Samiti Balika Bidy and Independent University Bangladesh are the runners-up. The brainstorming competition was organised by Drishty, Chittagong. It is for the second time the contest has been held in the port city. In the competition each team consisting three members had to chose an item and make a complete business plan to promote the product in national and international market. Presidency International School made a demonstration on “Reusing of Pens” while Bangladesh Mahila Samiti Balika Bidyaloy made a demonstration on Reusing of “Water Hyacinths.” Omar Sadat Chowdhury, the team leader of Presidency International School, said their success is a result of the teamwork. Hisham Siddique and Rooman Amin were another two members of the team. Sadia Bari, the team leader of Bangladesh Mahila Samiti Balika Bidyaloy, said they want to go national level competition. Sabrina Ainy and Maysha Maliha were the two other members of the team. University level champion, East Delta University's team leader Fahad Ali Dovash said they have promoted Khuab-er-mangsha (special kind of beef), a traditional food item of Chittagong. Mehnaz Huda and Swon O Chery were the two other members of the team. The runner-up, Independent University Bangladesh, made demonstration on “Bela Biscuit. Eminent Banker Mamun Rashid was present as the chief guest at the award giving ceremony and distributed the prizes among the champions and runner-ups. Mamun put emphasis on understanding the difference between “sales” and “marketing”. He advised the students to pay more concentration in making plan of promoting a product.
