5 die in road accidents
Five people were killed and another was injured in separate road accidents in Munshiganj and Brahmanbaria yesterday.
UNB from Munshiganj reports: Four people were killed and another was injured as a truck plunged into Dhaleshwari river while crossing a bridge in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The identity of the victims could not be known immediately.
Police said a sand laden truck hit the railing of a bridge over the river at Mukterpur and fell into the river after breaking the railing while crossing the bridge at about 1:30pm.
Three people traveling on the truck and a child, who was playing on the river bank, died on the spot and another was injured.
The injured was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Our Correspondent from Brahmanbaria adds: One woman was killed in a road accident while a speedy bus knocked her down on Nabinagar-Kumpaniganj road at Ibrahimpur stand point under Nabinagar upzila yesterday.
The deceased are Ayesha Begum, 45, wife of Abdul Halim of Kataria village under Nabinagar upazila.
