100 injured as villagers clash

At least 100 people, including women were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers in Baniachang upazila Saturday. Police said an altercation ensued in the morning when Zakir Hossain, son of Jamir Ali of Kushiertala village, was going to town for selling fish. Harun Mia and Hafizur Rahman of Nishchintapur village took away the fish from Zakir. Later on, two groups of villagers equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other leaving at least 100 injured during one and a half hours' clash. Of the injured, Abdul Basir, Abdul Awal and Surut Ali were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital while Dulal Mia, 30, Salek Mia, 60, Hannan Mia, 35, Julhas Mia, 35, Samsu Mia, 30, Rafiqul Islam, 50, Abdul Malek, 30, Kuddus Mia, 40 and Tarabanu, 70 to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital.
