Traditional boat race in Bangladesh
Boat race is one of the traditional sports of entertainment of riverine Bangladesh. The race is held mainly in rural areas and organised by the rural people of Gopalganj, Madaripur, Norail, Munshiganj, Narayanganj, Pabna, Sirajganj, Sylhet, Brahmanbaria, Narsingdi, etc.
A fair is held on the bank of the river and the vendors sell various types of goods. Spontaneous participation of people gives the atmosphere a festive look. Unfortunately, this heritage is now facing a threat of extinction for lack of financing. To save this age-old tradition, various cultural, non-govt. and govt organizations should come forward immediately.
