'Community clinics reopen to ensure health services'
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque yesterday said the present government is reopening the union-based community clinics to ensure health services to the people.
Awareness would have to be created among the people of the unions that the community clinics belong to them and it is their responsibility to make them sustainable, he added.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of a programme on community healthcare-related training at Bangladesh Medical Research Council in the city.
He said the government is going to take initiatives to form a special safety net to give free health services to the ultra poor.
Project Director of Revitalisation of Community Healthcare Initiative in Bangladesh Project Dr Makhduma Nargis presided over while Prime Minister's Advisers Dr Syed Modasser Ali and Dr Gowher Rizvi, State Minister for Health Dr Mujibur Rahman Fakir and World Health Organisation Country Representative Dr Arun Chandra Thapaspoke at the function.
Dr Ruhal said the recruitment of community healthcare providers for the community clinics would be completed soon.
