Road crashes kill 3, injure 7

Three people were killed and seven others injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur, Brahmanbaria and Thakurgaon on Wednesday and yesterday. Our Dinajpur correspondent reports: One woman was killed and five others were injured in separate road accidents in the district. The deceased is Sabina Begum, 26, wife of Ansar Ali, village Ambari of Parbatipur upazila in Dinajpur. Sabina was killed when a shallow run three-wheeler hit her while she was crossing Dinajpur-Bogra highway in Ambari area of Parbatipur upazila, leaving her injured critically on Wednesday night. She was rushed to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries yesterday morning. Meanwhile, at least five people were injured as a crowded easy bike collided head-on with a speedy motorcycle yesterday afternoon. The injured were admitted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. Our Thakurgaon correspondent adds: A bicyclist was killed when a Thakurgaon-bound tractor hit his bicycle coming from opposite direction on Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway at Khochabari village of Sadar upazila yesterday. The deceased is Md Alam, 37, son of Tofazzal Hossain, of Shibrampur village of Birganj upazila in Dinajpur. UNB from Brahmanbaria says: A Canada expatriate Bangladeshi teenage girl was killed and two others were injured when a microbus skidded off and fell into a roadside canal while its driver lost control over the steering on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Rampur Bridge at Budhoshyi in Bijoynagar upazila yesterday. The deceased was identified as Fahmida Aktar Sunny, 18, a Canada expatriate and hailed from Shibganj of Sylhet district. Fahmida, accompanied by two other people was going to her ancestral home in Sylhet from Dhaka. Fahmida died on the spot. However, her two companions managed to come out of the sinking microbus and ashore in injured condition. Locals rescued them and rushed them to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
