Convicted BGB man dies
An ailing Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) havilder, who was detained in Dhaka Central Jail following conviction, died yesterday morning.
The deceased, Saidul Huq, 40, had been suffering from cancer for the last three years.
Hailing from Jamalpur, Saidul was stationed in Battalion-24. The BGB trial court sentenced him to two years' imprisonment for his involvement in the 2009 mutiny.
Dhaka Central Jail guard Abdul Majid said Saidul's physical condition deteriorated around 8:00am and he died while being transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Saidul's relatives said he was undergoing treatment at a BGB hospital for cancer during the mutiny.
