Four accused held in Dhaka

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested four people, accused of murdering an engineer of a state-run gas company in Mazumderpara area of Sylhet on July 5, from a Naya Paltan hotel in Dhaka on Wednesday. The arrestees Abdul Khalique Milton and his brother Ferdous Ahmed of Mazumderpara, Shiplu of Khadimnagar and Abdul Muhit of Shibganj area were brought back to Sylhet yesterday. They were handed over to Kotwali Police Station and later sent to the judicial magistrate's court. Victim Wasiur Raza Chowdhury alias Razi, 37, a deputy manager of Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution Company, died after being severely beaten while trying to save his cousin from an attack by local criminals. The first three were among seven people accused in a case filed by the cousin Mamed with Kotwali Police Station on July 7 in this connection. Rab said Muhit helped the three to escape.
