<i>Firefighters for hire</i>
A firefighter and three volunteers with necessary firefighting equipment can be available as a precautionary measure at weddings, religious functions or social gatherings for anyone spending Tk 1,000 per day.
Fire Service and Civil Defense Directorate will launch this new service soon to ensure safety at such programmes, said Director General Abu Nayeem Mohammed Shahidullah while speaking at a press conference at it's headquarters yesterday.
Nayeem said anyone interested to avail this service has to apply to the concerned fire station two days ahead of the programme.
"We already trained 6,000 volunteers at different areas of Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet city corporations,” said the directorate's Deputy Director Mozammel Haque.
