Protappur-Padua border survey suspended
The Bangladesh team yesterday failed to survey on Protappur-Padua border in the face of obstacle from the Indians.
The survey on the frontier was suspended for the third time yesterday. Earlier, the Bangladesh side made attempts twice on July 14 and July 17 to survey the adversely possessed lands (APL), now under Indian occupation.
Md Foizul Islam, chairman of Purbo Jaflong Union Parishad of Gowainghat upazila, said the survey team went to the border around 11:00am, but could not enter the APL as India's tribal people and Border Security Force (BSF) declined to allow any survey there.
The team had to return from the border around 4:00pm, he added.
For long over 200 acres of Bangladeshi lands had been under Indian possession on Protappur-Padua border.
