Formation of wage board demanded
Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers and Bangladesh Sangabadpatra Karmochari Federation in a statement yesterday demanded formation of eighth wage board for the journalists, workers and employees of the newspapers and news agencies.
Leaders of the organisations also demanded restoration of the Newspaper Employees (Services and Conditioned) Act -1974 formulated by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman to form Wage Board for the newspapermen.
They also sought permission of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to meet her.
They demanded of the government to stop repression on journalists, workers and employees of newspapers and news agencies.
Signatories to the statement are Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers President Md Alamgir Hossain Khan and Secretary General Md Kamal Uddin and Bangladesh Sangabadpatra Karmochari Federation President Md Matiur Rahman Talukdar and Secretary General Md Khairul Islam.
