Unb, Dhaka
Top security alert, code named Grade-1, has been issued in the capital to ensure foolproof security on the eve of Congress President Sonia Gandhi's visit to Bangladesh. Sonia Gandhi arrives here tonight (Sunday) to attend an international conference on autism at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The two-day international conference will begin at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) tomorrow. Sonia Gandhi will also receive the highest state honour "Swadhinata Sammanona" on behalf of her mother-in-law, slain Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi, for her outstanding contribution to Bangladesh's liberation war in 1971. The security forces at the border have also been put on the highest alert, intelligence sources told the news agency.
