A delegation of ruling Awami League (AL) yesterday held talks with leaders of National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports as part of AL's initiative to form a greater political unity with like-minded parties. The meeting between AL leaders Obaidul Quader and Abdul Mannan Khan and the committee leaders Sheikh Mohammad Shahidullah, Prof Anu Muhammad, Prof MM Akash and Justice Golam Rabbani took place at the committee's Green Road office in the city. After the meeting, Prof Anu told reporters that they discussed about their seven-point demand including cancellation of the deal of a production sharing contract (PSC) with ConocoPhillips, an American oil company. Quader said they would convey the committee's demands to the prime minister. “I hope everything can be resolved through discussion,” he said, adding that the talks will continue.
