Road crashes kill 2, injure 15
Staff correspondent from Chittagong reports: A motorcyclist was killed as a recklessly driven truck rammed the motorcycle in Laldighi Par area under Kotwali Police Station in the port city yesterday.
The deceased is Faruk Hossain, 40, son of late Zahir Fakir, of Chittagong Medical Staff Quarter of Panchlaish.
The truck could not be identified as the driver fled the scene along with the truck immediately after the accident.
Our Pabna correspondent adds: An official of Ishwardi Sugarcane Research Institute was killed on the spot as an Ishwardi-bound speedy bus rammed his motorbike on the Pabna-Ishwardi highway in front of the institute at Ishwardi upazila yesterday.
The victim is identified as Md Abdur Rashid, 45, of village Nabogram of Shreepur in Magura, and also an assistant accountant of the institute.
Agitating workers, employees of the institute and locals together blockaded the highway for two hours following the accident.
Police said they seized the bus but its driver managed to flee away from the spot.
A correspondent from Jamalpur says: At least 15 passengers of a bus were injured when the driver of the bus of Monira Paribahan lost control over the steering and fell into a roadside ditch on the Jamalpur-Tangail road at Titpolla of Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
The injured were admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital.
