36 billboards of housing companies demolished
Rajdhani Unnyan Kartripakhya (Rajuk) knocked down 36 billboards and signboards of nine illegal private housing projects near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and in Khilkhet in the city yesterday.
The housing projects were being developed by Ashiyan City, Probashi Palli, ICL Real Estate and Development Company, Divine Group, Bonorupa Abashik Prakalpa, Four Season Holdings, Bhulua Royal City, Pixel City, and Basukunja and Icon City, said Rokon-ud-Dowla, executive magistrate of Rajuk.
The projects violated Dhaka city master plan, wetland and environment conservation laws, and private housing development rules in and around the capital, said Rokon who led the drive.
A High Court bench on June 8 declared a total of 77 private housing projects illegal and directed Rajuk to take against those.
Since then, Rajuk has demolished billboards and signboards of around 140 housing projects from different parts of the city.
