Girl rescued from Daulatdia brothel

A young woman who went missing after Eid-ul-Azha last year was rescued by the police from a brothel at Daulatdia upazila in Rajbari on Thursday. Police also arrested Nazma Begum, a pimp at the brothel Daulatdia Potita Polli, for keeping the 20-year-old girl confined for the past 10 months and forcing her into sex work. Ilias Hossain Munshi, sub-inspector of Goalunda Police Station, said the rescued girl was a worker of Shawon Garment at Mirpur in Dhaka. The girl said a male friend of hers, telling her to meet his family members, sold her to Nazma Begum of the brothel a week after last Eid-ul-Azha, he added. When her father came to know of her whereabouts, he filed a complaint with Goalunda Police Station on Thursday. Later that night, police rescued the girl. The rescued girl was sent to the court while the arrestee was sent to jail custody, said police.
