Encourage foreign investment in Bangladesh
Foreign minister urges IDB president
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni requested Islamic Development Bank President Dr Ahmed Mohammed Ali to use his good office to encourage more foreign investment in Bangladesh.
She made the request when she met him at the Conference Palace in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on August 26, said a Foreign Ministry press release.
Dipu Moni said Bangladesh is a safe and attractive destination for foreign investment.
She also sought more support from the IDB in the development sectors.
Dr Mohammed has lauded Bangladesh for its efforts to develop all sectors including power, infrastructure and economic sectors.
On the first day of her four-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, she discussed various issues of mutual interests with the IDB president. She highlighted the development activities taken by her government.
Dipu Moni expressed her gratitude to Dr Mohammed for his continued support to Bangladesh in its various development programmes.
She particularly mentioned about some ongoing projects in the infrastructure sector including the flyover at Mouchak in the city and power generation projects in Ashuganj and Bhola financed by IDB.
Dipu Moni performed Jumadul Bida at the Haram Sharif and holy Umrah in the evening.
She is scheduled to meet Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz today in Riyadh.
