Three killed in road crashes

Truck hits fish-laden pick-up in Satkhira

Three people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka and Satkhira yesterday. Staff correspondent reports: An official of a private company was killed under the wheels of a bus at Motijheel in the city yesterday. The deceased is Shahidul Haq, 60, a former official of Bangladesh Bank and accounts officer of a private company at Motijheel. Shahidul hailed from Baufal of Patuakhali lived with his family at Fatullah in Narayanganj. Police said the accident took place when a speedy bus crashed him near the Shapla Chattar while he was going to his office around 7:30am. Locals rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Our Satkhira correspondent says: Two fish traders were killed on the spot and two others injured when a truck hit a fish-laden pickup van and the van skidded off the Satkhira-Jessore road at village Elishpur in Kalaroa upazila yesterday. The deceased are Debu Prasad Biswas, 27, son of Bhagirath Biswas and Sanatan Biswas, 25, son of Sada Nanda Biswas, of village Panighara, of Mohammadpur upazila in Magura. The injured are admitted to Kalaroa Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.
