Death anniversary
Today is the 28th death anniversary of MA Wadud, a language movement veteran and father of Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni and renowned surgeon Dr Jawadur Rahim Wadud, says a press release. He was a close associate of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Husein Shaheed Suhrawardy. He was the founder member of Gonotantrik Jubo League, East Pakistan Muslim League, East Pakistan Awami Muslim League and Kendrio Kachi Kachar Mela. He also worked for the weekly Ittefaq and the Daily Ittefaq. He was imprisoned for the leadership in language movement in 1948 and 1952 and once again in 1978. He along with Bangabandhu was expelled from the Dhaka University in 1949 for leading a student movement.
