'Include vote for Sundarbans in itinerary'

Bangladesh Wonders Promotion Foundation yesterday urged the prime ministers of both Bangladesh and India to jointly vote for the Sundarbans to help it win in the new Seven Wonders of the World. The leaders of the foundation, in a statement, urged the president to arrange a voting programme for the Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world, during Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Bangladesh. The foundation Founder and President Muhammad Ata Ullah Khan and member of advisory council Rokan Ud Doula made the appeal. Participation of people of both countries in voting for the Sundarbans will increase if the two prime ministers jointly vote for the Sundarbans, they added. This is a big opportunity to make the Sundarbans known to the world, they said, urging all to vote for the Sundarbans as much as possible. If the Sundarbans wins in the new Seven Wonders of the World, the tourism industry would flourish while the country's economy would be enriched, they said. To vote for the Sundarbans, one needs to type SB in the short message service (SMS) option of a mobile phone and then send to 16333. Meanwhile, Sundarban Supporters' Committee also appealed to Manmohan to vote for the Sundarbans. The committee Convener Alhaj Liakat Ali and Member Secretary Rafiqul Islam Khokan, in a statement, said the Sundarbans still holds top position in the race to be one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
