Land dispute to be settled as per 1974 deal: Minister

Land Minister Md Rezaul Karim Hira yesterday said border demarcation and disputes over adversely possessed lands between Bangladesh and India will be settled as per the 1974 deal signed between the two neghbouring countries. “The agreement will be implemented after nearly 37 years during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in September,” the minister hoped. He was addressing a discussion meeting at the local Awami League office in sadar upazila of Jamalpur district, said a PID handout. After independence, Bangladesh and India signed a boundary agreement in 1974 that would have eliminated the enclaves.
