Law enforcers are yet to arrest Kasba Police Station officer-in-charge (investigation) accused in an attempted rape case. Inspector GM Mizanur Rahman, is the prime accused in the case for bid to rape a college girl in Chittagong one and half a months ago. During his official tour of Chittagong on July 11, Mizanur and one of his friends picked up a college girl from Foy's Lake area and confined her to his rented room at Al-Akaba Hotel at Chawk Bazar in the port city. He tortured the girl and tried to rape her. Relatives of the girl rescued her from the hotel room the same day in an unconscious state and filed a case against Mizanur with Panchlaish Police Station. Immediately after filing of the case, police arrested Al-Akaba Hotel Manager Md Shamsuddin and employee Md Tajul Islam on charge of helping Mizan to escape from the hotel. On July 14, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) asked Brahmanbaria district police office and Kasba Police Station to arrest Mizanur in connection with the attempted rape case and produced him in a Chittagong court. But the law enforcers could not arrest him as of yesterday. Police said Inspector GM Mizanur Rahman went to Chittagong to give his statement before a court in a case filed while he was working as sub-inspector of the Detective Branch of CMP.
