Road crashes kill 4, injure 3
Four people, including one octogenarian and two teenage boys, were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in Bogra, Sirajganj and Gazipur yesterday.
Staff correspondent from Bogra reports: Two teenage boys were killed when their motorbike over turned after hitting a road-divider while they were trying to avoid a pile of construction materials stored beside the road in Borogola area of the town yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Parvez Ahmed, 16, and Abu Bakkar Halim, 17.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A Sirajganj correspondent says: A bicyclist was killed and three others were injured when a Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck hit the bicycle and turned upside down while the truck was trying to save the bicyclist on the Dhaka-Bogra highway in Pachila area yesterday.
The deceased is Abdur Rahim, 35, of Amdanga village, of Solenga Police Station.
The injured, including the truck driver and the helper, were admitted to Sirajganj General Hospital.
A Gazipur correspondent adds: An octogenarian was killed on the spot when a speedy truck hit him on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway near Zamirdia in Sreepur upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Mangol Miah, 80, of Netrokona.
Protesting the accident, agitating locals blocked the highway for one-and-a-half-hour.
