Nine car lifters held
A team of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) with the help of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested nine car lifters from different areas in Chittagong and Dhaka and recovered one stolen sedan car.
The arrestees are Abdur Rouf alias Rob, the gang leader, Abdul Jabber, the driver of the car, Ayub, Parvez, Dipu Mallick, Anwar Hossain, Aminul Islam, Nannu Miah and Mahmudul Hasan Dipu.
The team of CMP led by Inspector Sadip Kumar Das of Detective Branch (DB) made the drives in different places in the port city and arrested them who were brought before the journalists at a press conference held at the office of the deputy commissioner of police (Chittagong north) yesterday.
The Toyota branded private car was recovered from a garage of Mohammadpur Beribadh area in Dhaka that was stolen from the port city's Asadganj area on August 13.
