Pro-BNP lawyers scuffle at doa mahfil
Two factions of pro-BNP lawyers yesterday scuffled at a doa and milad mahfil in memory of advocate MU Ahmed in the auditorium of Dhaka Bar Association in the old part of the city.
MU Ahmed, a pro-BNP lawyer, was arrested on August 11 over a chaotic incident, which took place in the courtroom of a High Court Bench on August 2. Later, he died at Square Hospital on August 26.
Two factions of Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, Dhaka unit -- one led by Sanaullah Miah and the other by Iqbal Hossain -- engaged in a scuffle over space.
One Shahidul Islam, a supporter of Iqbal group, was injured In the scuffle and was admitted to National Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The groups also engaged in a scuffle during a human chain programme on the court premises demanding withdrawal of all cases filed against BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman and other party leaders.
