More courts in Rajshahi demanded
Over a hundred lawyers yesterday demanded the government to establish a metropolitan sessions judge's court in Rajshahi and to fast appoint judges to the vacant posts.
They formed an hour-long human chain on Rajshahi court premises at 10:00am under the banner of Rajshahi Lawyers' Movement Committee.
The committee's conveynor Entajul Haque Babu chaired a discussion during the programme.
Speakers said the district sessions court is highly burdened dealing with the cases of nine police stations under the metropolitan area alongside the cases from the district's nine upazilas.
There is no judge at seven courts in Rajshahi resulting in pending heaps of cases and causing immense suffering to the justice seekers, they said.
They also protested the government's recent move to shift the Labour Court from Rajshahi to other district.
