Road crashes kill 7
Seven people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong, Sylhet and Mymensingh.
CU correspondent reports: Two people were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between a Khagrachhari-bound truck and a pick-up van coming from opposite direction on the Dhaka-Khagrachhari road near Gheramara village at Mirsarai in Chittagong yesterday.
The deceased is identified as pick-up van driver Gias Uddin alias Miru driver, 38, son of late Imdadul Haque, of Ballavpur of Chhagalnaiya upazila in Feni and the labour of the pick-up van Md Amin, 30, son of late Lal Mia of Satturba village of Mirsarai upazila.
The injured Md Shipon, 30, labour of the pick-up van, was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, a teenage girl was killed when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit the girl while she was crossing the road near CMB intersection under Chandgaon Police Station in the port city yesterday.
The deceased is Rupali, 14, daughter of Noeem Uddin, of CNG Gas Colony of Chandgaon Police Station.
Staff correspondent from Sylhet says: Two people were killed and another injured in a head-on collision between a Nabiganj-bound private car and a Sylhet-bound luxury volvo bus of Sohag Paribahan on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway near Bijna Nodir Bridge area of Nabiganj upazila yesterday.
The deceased are Hasan Ali, 80, of Dargapara of Nabiganj and car driver Akbar Hossain, 30, of Baroikandi of Dakshin Surma upazila in Sylhet.
Another passenger of the car was rushed to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition, police said.
Our Mymensingh correspondent adds: A grandmother along with her granddaughter were killed when a Dhaka-bound bus crushed them while they were crossing the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway near Community Based Medical College at Winarpar of Churkhai area in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased are Achhiron, 70, and her granddaughter Asma Begum, 10, of Winarpar.
Following the accident, local people put barricade on the highway for about an hour.
