2 of a family killed over land dispute
A group of miscreants brutally killed an elderly woman and her eight-year-old granddaughter and injured six others of a family in Barhatta upazila in Netrakona on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Ayesha Begum, 75, wife of late Abdul Jabber, and Tia Moni, daughter of Sanofar Mia, of village Paik Para in Barhatta.
Police arrested eight people including Liton, Jewel Mia, Safia and Aklima in this connection from the spot.
Police and local people said a conflict was running between Ayesha's four son-in-laws over occupying her one piece of land.
Thursday around 10:00am, some 20-25 people led by Lal Mia, one of the son-in-laws, of the village attacked the house of Sanafor Mia, another son-in-law, in the same village with sharp and lethal weapons, police and locals added.
Ayesha, who was in the house at the time, was killed by the attackers along with her granddaughter. Six other people of the house were injured.
