Drive against reckless driving begins in Savar
Highway police yesterday began their first phase of drive against reckless driving and unfit vehicles on Dhaka-Aricha Highway. They set up a check post before Dairy Gate area adjacent to Jahangirnagar University in Savar.
The drive continued from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
ASP Akteruzzaman of Gazipur zone highway police said the drive would continue to prevent reckless driving as well as unfit vehicles.
He said they launched the drive in the area as the buses from Gabtoli stand usually violate driving rules, causing frequent road accidents.
They also checked driving licences, documents of road permit, fitness and tax tokens and fined 25 buses of 50 scrutinised vehicles for not having relevant papers.
