INGO to celebrate its four decades
International NGO (INGO) Forum will organise a daylong event tomorrow at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre to celebrate four decades of INGOs engagement in the development of Bangladesh.
The programme, however, will be organised on the occasion of 40th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence.
It will include exchange of views with the people's representatives, representatives of government and non-government organisations, civil society, and donor organisations regarding the role of INGO in the development of Bangladesh.
This was disclosed at a press conference of INGO Forum, consisting of 74 international NGOs, at Jatiya Press Club in the city yesterday.
Farah Kabir, country director of ActionAid Bangladesh, said the deliberations during the event would help set future direction and the course of action for future developments including strengthening of democracy.
Iftekharuzzaman, executive director of Transparency International Bangladesh, said taking permission from authorities concerned the INGO had been working as an assisting force to the government since the birth of the country.
Gareth Price Jones, country director of Oxfam, AKM Musa, country director of Concern World Wide, Khairul Islam, country director of Water Aid, Jabed Amir, country director of Islamic Relief Worldwide, also spoke.
